Softlink expands digital video integration for Oliver and Liberty. Softlink International

Softlink has partnered with multimedia provider tv4education to bring v-TV video files into the Oliver and Liberty Library Management Systems. The v-TV Digital Library is a subscription-based service that offers recorded TV educational programs on demand. The integration with Oliver and Liberty means v-TV video files can be stored within the system and attached to imported catalogue records from SCIS.

Southern NH Library Cooperative announces launch of shared lending service. Southern NH Library Cooperative

The recently formed Southern NH Library Cooperative is a collaboration of three area libraries that have worked together over the last year to establish a shared lending service that will give their patrons access to more resources than ever before. SNHLC member libraries include the Plaistow Public Library, Sandown Public Library and the Kimball Library in Atkinson. On January 30, SNHLC will launch a shared lending service for card holders of the member libraries that will give those patrons convenient online access to the combined catalog of resources from the three member libraries.

Tech Logic powers forward in 2012 with growing team and product line. Tech Logic

Tech Logic has restructured its executive leadership by promoting key stakeholders and recruiting outside talent. As part of the recent reconfiguration, Gary Kirk was named President, Jim Nelson was named Chief Operating Officer, Eileen Keehan was hired as the Vice President of Global Business Development, Mike Robertson assumed responsibility for all product development and is now Director of Technology, and Heidi Weippert was named Director of Customer Care.

Montgomery House Warrior Run Area Public Library goes live on Koha. Montgomery House Warrior Run Area Public Library

Montgomery House Warrior Run Area Public Library announced today that it is now live on their installation of the Koha integrated library system and is using it for all collection and patron management services. The library staff worked with local technology volunteers and project managers on system set-up, configuration, and data migration. All bibliographic, item, and patron data was transferred out of its old Winnebago Spectrum system and into Koha. Recent checkout history, fines, holds, and patron messages were also successfully migrated into Koha from its old Spectrum system.

The City of Mississauga signed a 10-year agreement with SirsiDynix, the world’s leading provider of library automation products and services, selecting the SirsiDynix Symphony integrated library system and the SirsiDynix Enterprise discovery tool as the solutions of choice for the Mississauga Library System. Following a stringent procurement process, SirsiDynix’s library products and services emerged as the best fit for Mississauga Library System to fulfill its goals to provide a state-of-the-art solution built on the latest technology to streamline operations while providing an intuitive and sophisticated user experience. The decision to proceed with SirsiDynix continues the Mississauga Library System’s existing relationship with the technology provider that extends back to 1998 when the library selected their previous Dynix ILS.

LibLime takes Koha with Class directly to the students. LibLime

LibLime takes Koha with Class a step further by getting more involved with the classes and students. Two of LibLime’s on staff librarians, Patrick Jones and Maria Laude, will be featured speakers in two different library school classes. They will be participating in WebEx sessions over the next few weeks to show the students general overviews of LibLime Koha and to discuss the business of open development ILS applications.

OCLC adds 500,000 records to WorldCat from China Academic Library and Information System . OCLC

OCLC has added 500,000 records to WorldCat from the China Academic Library and Information System, a nationwide academic library consortium with a mission to promote, maintain and improve resource sharing among Chinese university libraries and other libraries and institutions. These records represent Chinese publications between 1987 and 2001. The records have been added to WorldCat to help promote the use of the CALIS collection and use of OCLC resource sharing services in libraries in China, and to maximize each organization’s strengths in enhancing cooperative building and sharing of information resources on a global scale.

The LOCKSS program and Ex Libris SFX provide access to archived electronic resources. Ex Libris

Ex Libris announced the integration of the LOCKSS Program software with the SFX OpenURL link resolver. Based at Stanford University Libraries, the LOCKSS Program is an international community collaboration that archives copies of scholarly journals so that library users can continue to access licensed copies when the journals are not available directly from the publisher. Added as a target in SFX, the LOCKSS service retrieves licensed materials from the library’s own LOCKSS archive. Libraries that activate this target can offer uninterrupted access, through SFX context-sensitive links, to scholarly content that is securely archived in their own LOCKSS Box.

The Main and Shute Park Branches of the Hillsboro Public Library are the first Washington County Cooperative Library Services member libraries scheduled begin use of a new RFID system.

OCLC Research and ALISE name recipients of 2012 Library and Information Science Research Grants. OCLC

OCLC Research and the Association for Library and Information Science Education have awarded research grants to Abdulhussain Mahdi and Arash Joorabchi of the University of Limerick, Laura Saunders and Mary Wilkins Jordan of Simmons College, and Carolyn Hank of McGill University and Cassidy Sugimoto of Indiana University Bloomington. The awards were presented January 19 at the ALISE 2012 Annual Conference Awards Reception in Dallas, Texas.

ByWater Solutions welcomed Huntington Public Library to Vermont Organization of Koha Automated Libraries. Huntington Public Library is now live on the Koha integrated library system through VOKAL.
